On metasyntactic variables
While perusing some Python documentation, I came across some example text: “foo, bar, bletch”. Catchy. Maybe even better than “foo, bar, baz”.
Turns out that there’s an entire Wikipedia article on the subject. Curious what other people have used, I consulted Google Sets and asked for a small set. Click “enlarge set” for some outstanding metasyntactic variables.
Bonus: Intel and Sun often choose geographical names as codenames for projects because they can’t be trademarked. via Tollef Fog Heen’s Blog
